Growing up, I loved to read. Still do but find that the time to read is sparse. Books were always a big part of my life. Believe it or not, I actually was slow to learn how but I was sick one week in first grade and went back a reader. My Care Bear and Golden Book Life Lessons books have stood the test of time and now share a place in our growing collection of books. Wonder what happened to my giant collection of Sweet Valley Girls books. I think I may have a bit of problem, do you think they have meetings for people addicted to buying books?

Books
There are books everywhere in our house. We go through phases where we read certain books for weeks on end before switching to a knew genre. The bookcases are full and the bins are overflowing but I can’t help but hunt for book bargains. I make sure there are books available and in reach for Lucy whenever the mood may strike to sit and explore the pages of a good book. We have a lot of luck at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Whenever we pass a Borders we make sure to visit. You wouldn’t believe the list of books I’d like to purchase. Here is a small list of our favorites. Read More

Lucy's 1st Recital

Happy Father’s Day! Today I want to thank the most wonderful husband, friend, and father in the world. Tommy is an amazing man. Lucy, Jack and I are blessed to have him in our lives. He makes it possible for us to enjoy life like we do. His hard work sometimes goes by without a thank you but I hope he knows he is appreciated and loved. I go to bed each night thankful for all we have and for him being beside me on this journey.

It is no doubt that Tommy is an amazing man because he was raised with true example. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a relationship with their in laws. I am proud to call Tom, Dad. He has always treated me like a daughter and I appreciate that more than he can ever know. Family is so important to him and he has made me feel like a special part of it. Lucy and Jack sure do love their Pop and I know he is enjoying them as well. Today I want to thank him for helping to shape Tommy into the father he is and to let him know how much he means to me as well.

And in honor of today, lets not forget that special man that I miss so very much. Papa was undoubtedly the kind of dad we all hope to have had. Jack reminds me of him everyday and I imagine the joy those two would have shared with one another.

Because of these men, it makes me sad that the one man who was given many chances to be a part of his kid’s lives has chosen to go on with little regard to his incredible adult children and two adorable grandchildren. And not sad for me but sad for him. How someone could pass up the chance to be a part of their lives is beyond me. The gift of parenthood is something so amazing. I love that I am surround by men and women who embrace that special gift with such vigor. Thank you to all those dads out there who truly work hard and shed so much love. Hope you all have a wonderful Father’s Day and that your children give you an extra hug tonight.

Some times I can hardly believe how grown up Jodi has become seemingly overnight and I am so proud of her recent graduation. Riding in the car the other day, Lucy was talking about having gone. “I saw a fountain at Joey’s graduation….she did such a great job…she looked so beautiful. Didn’t she mom?” Yes she did! Congrats Jodi. We love you and are hoping college is an amazing adventure for you.
