With Good Reason

If you are going to wake me up every two hours and nurse all day long, there better be a damn good reason. And there was…Jack has his first tooth!

Bounce

Thank you Grammie & Pop! Lucy has already started to have fun in her new bounce house. Who wants to come over to play? Jack went in for a little sister torture as well.

Well Babies

I decided to take both Lucy and Jack in together for their well babies last week. He was in for his 6 month and her for the 3 year. It’s hard to believe how quick they are both growing up and to see them develop is one of my greatest joys.

Lucy was 34 pounds and 40 inches. She’s going to be tall. The average of her height and weight % puts her at the 75th %. Her BMI was right at 50%. Our pediatrician spent quite a bit of time talking to her and said she was “very intelligent!” We think so too but it’s nice to hear it from someone else. She said that both her language development, sentence structure and vocabulary, as well as her creativity/imagination are on par with a 4 year old. Go Lucy! We hope we are able to continue to foster her learning so she doesn’t digress. I of course have been concerned with her potty training, or lack there of as it has been. The pedi is not concerned and in fact thinks that she’ll decide to do it one day and anticipates she’ll have trained herself by summers end. She said she often finds kids with Lucy’s personality to train later. And that it has nothing to do with how smart she is but rather has a bit to do with genetics and her own strong will. It’s tough to see my little girl still wearing diapers. Aside from that, she really does blow me away. She currently loves to “do projects” and color. Sometimes I wish she’d “love” her brother a little less but at least she really does adore him. She really is our princess.

Jack was 17 lbs 13 ounces and 27 1/4 inches. He too is taller on the height but averages out at the 75th %. The pedi was very happy with his development and said she hardly sees babies who are as social and smiling. You all have seen first hand how happy this little guy is most days. He’s been rolling for months and army crawling for weeks. Every day he sits up better and better until his sister knocks him over. And, I can’t believe it but he started to pull himself to standing as I was typing this. He’s not even 7 months yet, craziness! We installed the convertible car seat for him today and packed away the infant seat. It’s all going by too quickly. Next mission is to get him sleeping through the night. There is always something of course.

This mom work is still exhausting and I see no end in site for that. But I wouldn’t trade that exhaustion for anything else in the world. These two sure do bring a lot of happiness to our lives. Hoping they bring some joy to yours as well.

Princess Party

Lucy’s request for her birthday was to have a Princess Party. How could we not give her the ultimate party? Her majesty suggested people come in their fairytale attire. Cruella De Ville, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Snow White, a Mermaid, many pirates and countless princesses attended. There was even a balloon animal making Jester. And Cinderella herself made a special appearance. The bounce house was a big hit. The kids were rarely out of it. And in fact, many of the adults spent quite a bit of time inside. A few may have been spotted jumping in it around midnight before the magic of the day ended. With the princess bouncer, bubble table, a messy craft of stain class characters, Lavern the dragon, and lots of cupcake cones, the whole party really came together well. We even ended the night with a roaring fire and delicious smores. This is going to be a birthday Lucy talks about for a long time. Thank you to you all who helped make it happen and for helping us celebrate our princess’s third birthday! Click here to view these pictures »

3 Years Old!

Happy Birthday Lucy! It hardly seems possible that I have a three year old today. The years are flying by already. Here are some links to our favorite pictures in the years past.
