I promise to keep updating the blog but there will be minimal photos for a bit since my camera lens got busted last weekend. Still not sure how or when this happened but am less than pleased about it. I was able to get a few shots at the beach that with editing are ok. Yes, that’s right, we went to the beach in April!
She is wearing a crown, a veil, wings, a Sleeping Beauty top, purple necklace, Cinderella slippers and a Tinkerbell skirt and carrying an old pink Coach bag. If she were in her twenties you’d wonder if she should be hospitalized. But for a three year old, this is simply princess practice.
In honor of Earth Day, I thought I would write up a little something about helping our planet.
A friend jokingly coined me as an “earthy crunchy nut” a few months ago. I figure that if JT can bring sexy back, then I can give this image a new face. At first glance I do not exude any resemblance to an earth caring tree hugger. But deep down, I long to make this world a better safer place for my children. We all know that going green is trendy these days but if we actually commit to it then we can make such a difference. Doesn’t everyone already recycle, turn off lights, and brush without running the water? Here are a few subtle and easy things I am doing with/for our family.
I LOVE my reusable grocery bags. In fact, I got this set for my birthday and I love to use them. I try never to leave home without my bags these days. The key for me is to always have a few floating around my car.
A roll of paper towels is easy to burn through. Especially with a toddler around. I’ve started using more and more cloth napkins for dinner and clean ups. Plus, I am slightly addicted to table linens. They are pretty and cut back on our paper use.
Cloth diapers has been the biggest thing we have started to do for our planet. The fact that we are not sending disposable diapers to the landfills feels pretty good. And it’s great for our baby’s bottom too. They don’t call them Bum Genius diapers for nothing.
The last thing I’ll share is my love for non toxic cleaners. I won a prize pack on another mommy blog and fell in love with Shaklee. The basic cleaner and degreaser is amazing! And the fact that one bottle of the cleaner is mixed in reusable sprayers saves me from buying bottles and bottles of cleaner.

I apolgize for the lack of content this part week. Things have been busy and I haven’t had much to blog about. This weeks Ten on Tuesday should catch us up. I’ll even put in some pictures.
1. We have been making some great progress on the Princess/Fairytale Party to celebrate Lucy’s 3rd year. Hope you have started working on your costumes and marked your calendars for May 23rd. Lucy has taken too telling every random cashier about her party and has invited them to come! So who knows how many people there will be.
2. I asked for a princess picture and this is what I got:
3. Poor Jack had his first ear infection last week. He is since back to his laughing (read: screeching) self. But the week of no sleep was really tough on us.
4. Even Uncles wear Baby Hawks. How many kids do you think he could babysit at once?
5. We played dodge ball in the living room last night. As it was happening, I kept thinking about how bad it was to let this happen inside but it was fun!
6. After fully embracing the fact that I drive a minivan, my lease is up. It wasn’t in the cards to get another van so I will be driving a Rav4 starting Saturday. I am in love with the color.
7. It’s almost noon time and we are all still in our pajamas today.
8. I am so excited, the Fleige’s are considering cloth diapering. As you know, I love it and really hope I can inspire more and more people to try it. Anyone who wants a demo or a list of things you need can let me know.
9. In less than two weeks, Jack will be 6 months. How has half a year gone by already?
10. Spring is finally starting to show up but it’s still not perfect yet. I’m anxious to spend more time outside. And I’ve been scouring Freecycle for free yard toys. Anyone have good luck with Freecycle?
Have a great week and enjoy the beautiful weekend we are supposed to have.
The poem Myself by Edgar Albert Guest has always been a favorite of mine. Today, I thought I’d share it with you all. Read More
