Thought it was about time to share the news. We are sorry to not be able to tell you all in person. Now that we have the first photo shoot behind us, we wanted to spread word around and figured this was as good a way as any. Lucy is going to be an awesome big sister! Coming to you in early November (making me about 11-ish weeks along):
This video is amazing. Every time I watch it, I get goosebumps and tears in my eyes. Enjoy!
This is going to be short and sweet. Taking a break from cuddling my sick Lucy on the couch.

That is a busy and exciting couple of months ahead with lots of weddings and babies!
With Lucy’s second birthday quickly approaching, I can’t help but think back to how quickly things have flown by and how much she has changed in the process. Someone recently asked when she got her first tooth (Thanks, Mify!). I started to think about all her milestones and the fact that I am a bad mom who has been so busy taking pictures that I don’t have a baby book to speak of for her. Here are some of the fun milestones I can think of at the moment.
The first time she rolled over from her back to her belly was at 3 months. I laid her under her play gym thing and jumped in the shower and of course I missed it! There she was on her belly when I got out. She rolled and rolled after that. In fact, sadly, she rolled off her changing table not shortly after. I felt awful but the truth is it was just the first of many bumps and bruises to follow.
At 6 months she started army crawling on the Cape. We go down every fall and in fact went down the day of her 6 month check up. She started getting mobile that week and started on solid foods. Her first solids were home made sweet potatoes which she wasn’t so sure about and I think it was the only time we actually broke out the video camera.
Right at Christmas time we hit a bunch of things at once. She still was not sleeping through the night at 7 months so we started to do some sleep training. Well we started that during the holidays and wouldn’t you know at 7.5 months she figured out how to pull herself to standing in her crib which made things tough. Then Christmas morning she got her very first tooth. The second one soon followed.
Sometime shortly after she really started to babble. And you all know how much she talks these days. It all started with the word “baby.” She had lots of “da da da’s” and “ma ma ma’s” but “baby” was the real first word.
I swore she’d walk early since she had been full speed crawling and cruising for months but because crawling was so much faster, she’d resort to that method for a while. And believe me, she was fast! The spring came and she took her first swim class which she loved. Chop Suey became her favorite as you can see below. She seemed to be growing up so fast. And her 1st birthday was here before we knew it.
For her first birthday, we had a bbq party. She started fully walking the week before and so I’d say she walked at 12 months. The chase has not stopped ever since. And this spunky kid emerged. I wonder where she gets it from. Luckily for us she decided to give us a bit of rest and started to sleep through the night at a year. It really was a year before I slept a full night and gosh did it feel good!
Lucy was a beach bum that following summer. We had lots of trips to the beach and down to the Cape. She even had her first carousal ride at Nantasket Beach with her buddy Cameron. Then the fall came and we tried apple picking. The kids ate more apples than they picked but it made for some great pictures of course. We tried out all kinds of fun playspaces. And we even went to the Aquarium. Then Halloween came. Lucy was an orange cat the first year and because she loved to say “Arrgh” she was a pirate the second year. And she was a cute pirate of course!
The second Christmas soon followed. Lucy was talking up a storm. She started to understand who Ho Ho was and she had a blast unwrapping the endless gifts. She had a great time the day we went hunting for our Christmas tree! You all know how much I love Christmas and I really hope she will too.
Spring is finally coming and Lucy is talking in sentences. You can see some of her phrases in the post below. I can’t help but giggle every time she says delicious. She recently went on her second plane trip. The first was to TX when she was 8 months and this time it was to NC. She did great and I was quite proud I managed to make it there and back with her, a suitcase, a stroller, a car seat and a carry on bag. One man called me a warrior! Some days I feel like one with a toddler. It’s all tiring but it’s all worth every hug and every smile. I’m ready to do it all again. I guess I’ll catch up on sleep in twenty years.
